What is computer imaging?

When you choose to come in for a consultation, a digital photo is taken. Our computer imaging software completes a before and after simulation of the final results. It is an opportunity for you to see how you might look. Once in the computer we can experiment with the color size and shape of the teeth that will compliment your personality and complexion

How fast can I get my new smile?

The full procedure is really two appointments, three weeks apart. A new smile is created the first visit with temporaries. The temporaries look wonderful, Always a major improvement that you will be happy about. The temporaries are made like the final result that you have selected. Also during the temporary phase we can make any changes or alterations you want to make after living with your new smile for awhile. So when we place the final veneers, they are exactly the shade, length and shape you want them.

Braces or Veneers?

The answer to this question is, "it depends". In some cases braces are the best approach. However, veneers can correct misaligned(crooked) teethe, space or gaps, and crowding. Orthodontic braces are most desirable for people under 18, when the teeth are easier to move. Many adults wear braces, but for a longer duration and almost always require a permanent retainer to hold the new position. There are numerous visits in addition to the hassles of wearing braces. Also, teeth may repositioned but continue to be the same shape and color which may or may not be desirable.

What is bonding and how is it different from veneers?

Small chips or fractures can be repaired with a bonding procedure. A tooth-colored material is used to build up the tooth to its original color and shape. The advantage to bonding is that it is an inexpensive and conservative way to restore a tooth. The disadvantage is that it will discolor, and is more prone to breakage. A veneer on the other hand will not discolor and will be far stronger in the long run.

What is the dark line above my crown?

Until recently, the standard way to make a tooth colored crown was porcelain fused to metal. The porcelain was baked on the metal framework. Unfortunately it is difficult to block out the dark color of the metal. This results in a dark line or graying at the gumline. Today we have a solution of an all porcelain crown. This means no darkness at the gumline. The appearance is identical to a natural tooth, allowing light to pass through.
